A 21-count indictment was filed against Cody Daniel Longbottom, 22, of Mt. Orab, on May 22, 2025 in case number CRI20252062.
The indictment charged Longbottom with four counts of rape, felonies of the first degree; seven counts of gross sexual imposition, felonies of the third degree; two counts of rape, felonies of the first degree; four counts of gross sexual imposition, felonies of the fourth degree; two counts of rape, felonies of the first degree; one count of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a felony of the second degree; and one count of endangering children, a felony of the second degree.
On July 1, Longbottom entered a plea of guilty to two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition before Brown County Common Pleas Judge Scott T. Gusweiler.
On that same day, Judge Gusweiler sentenced Longbottom, as it relates to one count of rape, a mandatory prison terms of a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction; as it relates to one count of gross sexual imposition, a prison term of 12 months to be served consecutive to the sentence for one count of rape in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction; as it relates to one count of gross sexual imposition, a prison term of 12 months to be served consecutive to the sentences for one count of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction; and as it relates to the second count of rape, a mandatory prison term of a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years to be served consecutively to the sentences for one count of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for a total of a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 12 years.
Longbottom was also notified that post release control is mandatory in this case for five years and is classified as a Tier III Sex Offender for the remainder of his life. All other counts were dismissed.
