William Arthur Smith, Jr., age 83, Mt. Orab, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with his wife of 58 years at his side.
“Bill” was born March 14, 1943, in Columbus, OH to the late William Arthur Smith, Sr. and Louise Resibois Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Brian (Heather) Smith and Cynthia (Mike) Rink; his grandchildren, Larissa Smith, Hannah Smith, Jacob Rink, Lauren (Gavin) Mingin, and Katherine Rink; his great grandson, Cooper William Mingin; nephew, Lowell (Michelle) Bernhardt and family; and sister, Connie Taylor. Brothers in law, Steve (Debra) Bernhardt, Kenneth Schumpelt; Sisters in law, Dottie (Ed) Valentine and Kelley Sullivan; plus, several nieces and nephews.
Brother Ken Smith preceded him in death.
He was loved and will be missed by family and friends.
Bill graduated from Buford School in 1961 and worked at Steelcraft Manufacturing for 47 years, starting out as a brake operator and eventually being promoted to maintenance. He was known for being a hard worker and a man of few words. He loved his family and enjoyed being outside in the garden and mowing on his tractor. Bill also loved going to car shows and photographing the cars. He was an avid UC Bearcats fan. Bill was a member of the Mt. Orab Methodist Church for over 50 years.
A celebration of life was held at the Mt. Orab Methodist Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2 pm.
